Hi guys - I'm Jason, and I'm about to jump into uncharted waters, and try my hand at welding.
I've been busy building a Marlin Sportster kit car:
http://www.greatoldone.co.uk
Which I've managed to get on the road without having to weld anything (apart from the rollbar, which I got someone to do for me). Needless to say my brackets are all bolted or riveted together!
I'm planning on getting a gas MIG, as from reading the forums as a guest it seems to be the most straight forward thing for a novice to pick up, and to use it to remake all those bolted brackets (so I can shed a few kilos of fasteners!).
I'm sure it will also come in handy when we come to build my mates kit-car once the tin moths have finshed eating his Disco, and we can put the V8 to better use.
Cheers,
Jason
