HF Interference

I've only just sussed tonight why my dewalt battery charger go's wild saying my batterys are tatered, When I'm AC tiging the HF must send the charger dowelley ,I have only just made the link.
Anyone else have strange things go bump in the night due to HF?

My ac set has destroyed a couple of digital radios, and it switches off the cctv camera, it will sometimes reboot the laptop, but I cured that by unplugging the usb mouse when welding, I also occasionally have had the battery warning light but hadn't made that connection, Ill check that one out,
HF on mine is only to start though, its square wave fast switching so doesn't use it continuously, I think the pulse frequency is the culprit,

Pretty much anything with s processor in it can be, induced RF is strange stuff telephones Amps etc We have to be careful where co\ax TX lines go in buildings

My chargers are 30ft away from my welders,everything is well grounded and it still plays funny nuggets, I did wonder if my spark gaps needed checking?

I had two iphones in succession that the earpiece failed, both times they went all quiet and muffled. Apple said it must be an environmental issue, the only link I could think of was I probably had it in my pocket while playing with the tig.

I kill phones at the rate of one every six months. The speaker gets quieter and quieter until it becomes useless. I think it's welding near them that does it.

Or they get full of spatter/grinding dust.

The modern speakers have the rare earth magnets which are phenomenally powerful for their size this allows the speaker
\ear piece to handle higher wattage but works like a super collector for metallic particles in the air, We have real problems with newer equipment getting filled with metal dust, in some environments 6 months is the speakers useful life with any volume & as they are sealed into the cabinet you are into costly repairs

One place I worked at, the welder would bring his phone to me every 3 months to strip and blow out the grinding dust from the speaker magnet.

In a factory where I worked they were having intermittent problems with the computers in the office. It took an IT guy ages to eventually trace the fault - the beast of a square wave ac/dc murex welder in the workshop right at the opposite end of the building!.

It only happened on the rare occasion we were welding aluminium on AC using the 'HF constant' setting. The network cables were running in separate trunking but we re-routed them and ran a separate 3 phase feed for the welder and that cured the problem. The engineer thought that most of the interference was traveling via the mains cable network to the office 400m away!

We commonly used to fry phones if we forgot to take them out our pockets, and also it seemed to wipe the chip in our passes and mean you couldn't get out of the gate
