So ALst night I gat a text from one of the Devs at work.
Can you give me a jump start in the morning?
Sure I'll call you when i'm leaving.
So I get to Dundde and the car is down the road. It turns out he went out to this ex and then the car wouldn't start after that. Dundee is hilly, so there is usually a hill to roll a car down. So he tries this trying to bump start it. But it doesn't start and he end up at the bottom od a cul-de-sac. Hence the Text.
So I get my jump leads and head off in thundebird two. I get there and its unlocking ok and turns over ok, but won't start. The battery was flat dur to the starting attempts.
So there is nothing obvious wrong and ther is fuel in tank.
Then I remember him mentioning the other day that hos key was broken and he was getting a new case from the ebay.
So Did you swap you key over yesterday?
Yes came the relpy, just before I went out. look its working (locks and unlocks the car several times)
So did you change the chip?
Yes look its working (locks and unlocks the car several times)
So you changed the board with the battery and the buttons on?
Yes look its working (locks and unlocks the car several times)
But what about the RFID chip?
Whats that?
Its the one that makes the car start.
Oh. (blank look across his face) There was this bit of plastic there too.
Where is that?
Its with the old bits.
Where are they?
In the bin.
So off we go to the house and he looks in the bin for the bis of the keys shell. Sure enough there is the RFID chip in the bottom half of the case.
Cool, that will start the car now.
So off we go back to the car. then he cant find the key. So off we go back to the house and get the key he put down when he was looking through the bins.
I extract the RFID chip and put it in the new shell in the special place it has for it to clip in.
And the car starts.
Roll on the rest of the day and much leg pulling.
