help with welding my Mini and tutorial

Hi

I have a classic mini that requires quite a few panels fitting, what I would like is to find a welder who is prepared to come to my house in Iver bucks, fit the panels for me, get paid, and teach me how to weld.

I have always been held back with my classic cars because I cant weld.

Whoever replies must have a sense of humour, and not put off by the state of the car.

Derek, why not do it yourself? Learning to weld is not hard and this site can help you with ANY problems you come across. Get some scrap, even the old panels you want to replace will do, fire up the welder and go for it! If it all goes wrong, post pictures on here and someone will guide you. Read/watch the tutorals on here mate, they are just as good as watching someone. Just get some scrap, fiddle with the settings on the welder and have a try! I bet, after a couple of hours, a few little burns and half a reel of wire, you won't want anyone near your car.

Many thanks for your sound advice, you know what mate your right, if people are charging £60 per hour which I cant afford I had better learn myself, I will get a welder and make a start,

I hope that was a 'joke' by Bric-a-brac .
Many mobile welders will charge an awful lot less than that for good quality work, you just need to find one.

My advice echos Glyn's though, buy a welder and learn to use it, on a mini it'll pay for itself in no time

Well as you have taken my advice Derek, here's a bit more I hope you take! Buy a good welder. It will pay for it's self and i'm sure you will find learning a lot less hassle. But what will happen is this, someone will see the arc, they will need something welding, you'll do it for them. They will tell someone else and so on. Eventually you won't have time to do your own cars. But as I said, it will pay for it's self.
