Help with rtech 50amp plasma

I just got delivery of a new rtech 50 amp plasma on thursday this week and im having a few minor problems and thought id try here for some advice.
I wired it up to a 32amp plug and set the air pressure to 50psi as per instructions
It seems to cut fine up to about 35 amps.
Yesterday i cut up 2 8x4x 3 mil sheets no problem at all perfect was using the stand off spring.
Today i tried to turn the machine up to 50 amps and cut some 12 mil flat but it could not get an arc it just spluttered and would not cut.
Same story at 40 amps it could not maintain an arc with the stand off spring.
I took of the spring and turned the machine down to 35amps and it cut perfectly nice clean cut.
I then tried to cut a bit of 20 mil plate turned the machine up to 50 amps and it would not attempt to cut it could not maintain an arc.
Im thinking that their might be a problem with the pilot arc but im not really sure?

I watch the review on youtube and in the second video when he makes the first cut of the 19mm plate at the end of the cut the machine splutters. That is what my plasma does when i try to cut between 40 and 50 amps using the stand off spring.
Im thinking their must be a problem with it.
I like the machine it seems to be very well built and has a nice torch its exactly what i want so id like to solve this problem and get it working right.

Check the electrode, nozzle and ceramic are tight - mine loosened and caused similar problems nipped them up and not had the problem since. Also maybe just a bad earth? pilot arc alone will cut thin material but if the main arc isn't firing and remaining stable (hence the stuttering) you will struggle with thicker stuff no matter how much you raise the current.

Ive changed the consumables and their tight and the earth is good so im not sure what else it could be?

Sorry, that's all my suggestions used up - I've only had mine a few weeks myself. If any of the more seasoned plasma cutter users can't offer anything else asking R-Tech themselves on Monday will no doubt get you going.

Ok daft question and not making you sound silly, have you got it on cut or auto?
Try with the PSI up to 55-60 see if any difference.
And as for those standoff springs i threw them away pita

Ive had that a few times and it was down to a bad earth if your not already doing so put the earth direct to the work to be cut and check the earth connection to the machine

Chucked my stand off springs as well.
They are handy screwed onto the wall to support trailing flexes though.

R-Tech are really helpful if you give them a bell.

I suspect a good earth, my rtech quickly switches from pilot arc to cutting arc if I have a poor earth, it sounds like its spluttering but its not, air should be up at 55-60psi, mine was set by rtech, and I've not messed with it, like kafar says, give them a bell, they are very very helpful
