Help with regulator

Ages ago my brother very kindly broke the twisty bit off the regulator on my SIP 100l compressor

Since I have another small compressor (which I was meaning to sell) I never got round to sorting it, but the workshop is going to need emptying out, sell some stuff, make new shelves etc, and re-arrange a few things

This is the regualtor:

I know naff all about compressors and air lines, can anyone guide me as to what replacment reg I need?

You could do away with the regulator on the compressor and use one with a water trap on your air line. Just fit a PCL quick coupler fitting into the hole your broken regulator comes out of.

You won't have a broken regulator You will have a water trap as well which the tank mounted one doesn't have. You can get them on ebay for £10 plus postage, look for air filter regulator. You will have to find something to hang it on or plug it into your compressor and run your line through it.One here.

Another advantage of placing the regulator nearer your work is that you get better airflow due to the airline working at higher pressure.

That looks like the regulator that my 150l SIP came with. You'll probably find it's a 1/4" BSP fitting into an adapter, screwed into a 1/2" fitting on the receiver. Flow-rate will have been woeful, even when it wasn't broken.

I replaced mine with a Clarke 1/2" BSP regulator from Machine Mart and it made a huge difference to the flow-rate. A separate regulator sounds an even better idea if you don't mind doing some plumbing.

I think that i've got one of those in my shed from my old compressor

i'll have a look for it if you still need a replacement
