Hi, I am undertaking a car restoration and I am in need of a welder to help me repair body panels etc. So i am wondering what welder to purchase to help me to carry on my project. I am a total beginner with welding, but i have been watching videos, reading many articles and roaming around on this forum to get an understanding of welding and what welder will suit me.
The thickness of the metal i will be welding is around 1.2mm, i understand minimium setting of 30 amps will allow me to weld this metal.
I am unsure what maximium amp welder i should get..maybe up to 150amp or is this unnecessary for the jobs i will perform. I will probably use the welder only on this project and up to 2-3mm thick metal. I will most likely go for a gas/gasless welder so i can try both types.
So any tips on what welder to purchase or the specifications of a welder i should buy....hopefully not too expensive
