help with paint some one

right everyone ive just been looking at repainting my wheels on my car as ive had to weld them as i cracked 2 of them, and lost with paint so here i go ive been told to use black base coat in solvent and then use a 2k clear but do i use acrylic or what as these diffrent types i really dont under stand it i need to use a base coat and laqur as my wheels have a metalflake in them which is put in the clear anyone can help on this

Polyester black basecoat would be quite normal,You could suspend the flake in lacquer or 2k acrylic. The latter would be more hardwearing especially for hot brake dust.

You have become as many others have, lost in terms and technology of paint. In simplified terms. Laqueur is a shiny air dried paint which can be clear or have a pigment in and therefore called a solid. Its commonly known as celly 1:1 mix. 2k solvent basecoat is to all intents and purposes celly (1:1) but without a shine, so purely a colour. This can be a solid colour or a metalic colour and needs a shiny coat, known in the business as a clear coat. Clear coat can be celly or 2k (acrylic) 2:1 mix.
SO to answer your question, you will need to do your basecoat, flash off and add your clear coat with the flake added, then a standard clear coat. These clear coats can be in celly (will do the job) or 2k (proper job provided you have air fed apperatus and environment). It is confusing so dont be afraid to ask a 'dopey' question. You will be asking a question that someone else is thinking.

2k consists of

paint
activator
thinner

with basecoat its just paint and thinner

I had to assume the supplier/advisor was as confused as many others so also have to assume he meant polyester. difficult to explain sometimes without confusing further.

No such thing as 2K basecoat mate, 2K means paint & hardener, basecoat is Polyester and is the base paint & thinners, no hardener.
