Would like some info on the following torch i noticed on ebay. It is the 4 METRE MB25 and was wondering if it is made by parweld as i cant see it on their website. If not who manufactures this and any comments would be appreciated.
Doesn't look like a Parweld Andy, looks ok though. But....you can get a 4m genuine Parweld 'Ergo' one (which I can highly recommend) for about the same money from Diywelding or weldequip.
Its a TBI Torch which is good quality spares are available no problems I used to sell them but I went to Parweld, thought the parweld design was a bit better
My Parweld ergo is a 5m and It's a bit of a pita, it's way too long. Weldequip had them on offer at the time I bought my portamig.
I reckon a 3.5m would be just about perfect.
Malcolm, you were talking about shortening yours, did you give it any more thought?
I invested in a nice Binzel MB15-AK 3m torch in the end. The handle seems a bit bulkier than the Parweld, but I've not tried it yet. Actually, the torch itself looks identical to the one in the first photo, but the connector into the welder is different (mine is more sexy ).
That torch looks like a binzel. Doesnt mean it is though seeing as its on ebay
As for length. Keeping the torch as short as possible (3m) will help avoid birdsnests at the rollers.
Well i finally got round to trying my 2nd hand Migatronic 180 and the torch is fecked
Question for all you brainy people? When I first switched the welder on there was no power, i then went to change the plug and found out the previous owner had replaced the fuse with wire (Dangerous) So i replaced the wire with a 13 amp fuse and still nothing. Next I gave the wire a shake and then it powered up. So thinking that the wiring must be loose somewhere i checked the plug again, all along the wire and inside at the switches but everything seems ok and every time the wire moves the welder sometime cuts out
Well edited Andy , I couldn't steal Hitch's moment of glory .
If there was an award for Champion Googler I reckon I'd be in for a shout but champion fault identifier sadly not.
It does sound suspiciously like just a bad cable or connection though, if you can replicate the fault that easily it should be relatively easy to find the fault.
Is it the power cable from the plug to the welder that causes trouble - it'll be a break in one of the wires. New cable will sort it.
If that's a copy you don't know where it's been. Proper Binzel ones aren't too much different in price, and you get a "Team Binzle" sticker on the torch.
