So the dashed line is superfluous.....just checked - looks like its to standard BSI BS EN ISO 2553:2019, system A. the dashed line is described in table 5, and the example shown is "weld to be on same side as arrow". the x8 in the tail is 8 locations (2 per edge, 4 edges).

I got away for a number of years when I first started with the note "fully weld as required" or "stitch weld as required" on drawings . . . our fabricators were very good - I learnt a lot.
This is from ISO 2553:2019(E).
You have to be careful with the American version AWS A2.4, it is different and has no broken lines.
