Help with a hose reel ratchet please

I took this air hose reel apart to fix leaking o-rings.

I have had this apart before and I know which bits not to touch as there is a very powerful clock spring to wind up the reel.
I was about to reassemble it when something broke inside the ratchet mechanism releasing all the power of the spring!
Unfortunately i had a spanner on the spindle flats at the time and my hand got a bit bruised as the spanner went spinning round.

Opened up the cover on the mechanism and found some carnage.

The spindle is undamaged but it has destroyed 2 springs and damaged the plastic pawl. I think the pin securing the pawl snapped, suddenly releasing the big clock spring.

They fit in here, the spindle passes through the hole and slots onto the return spring.

I think it fits in something like this. But I'm not sure where the springs go or how exactly the ratchet system works.

One end of 1 spring hooks in one of these holes but no idea otherwise.
The paul has an eye in 1 end which I assume is for the spring.

I have a manual and parts list but the drawing is vague.

No makers name anywhere and I can't find one matching this design on google.

Parts are not a problem, can source 2 springs and a pin, the pawl is repairable.

But I'm not sure how the pawl and springs go together.

The main spring will be trying to turn the reel against the locking action of the ratchet mechanism. The pawl will be connected to one of the smaller springs to engage the sprocket, the other spring should attach to the body of the carrier also driving the pawl into the sprocket (by rotating the shaft they mount to). I imagine that second spring must be connected to some fixed, non rotating part of the main body. I'd take a close look at the point where the coil spring attaches. That's where the spring bolt "return spring" might also be fixed.
