Right chaps i have a problem and I'm sure that somebody on here can point me in the right direction.
The problem is that i have a rotavator a MTD 430 rear tine model, and i think i have either broken the chain or it has come off the sprocket that drives the tines, the front wheels are still work in gear. the problem is that i cannot get the front wheels off the drive shafts, it took me most of Saturday to get the tines off the shaft but i am struggling to get the wheels off so that i can split the gear casing and repair or replace the chain. The machine was stood 4+years in a field when i bought it and everything is rusted. I have tried anchoring one wheel to the garage floor and lifting with the other one until it is tight then tried to get one wheel of by hitting the shaft with a bar and BFH while suspended but it has only moved about 5mm at the most. I have applied some heat but i only have a blowtorch and ordinary gas and is seems that its not getting enough, i don't have access to any other form of heat. I have also tried using 2 pairs of Stilton's on the shaft and on the wheel sleeve but it won't budge, I think it's only with standing that the wheels are stuck fast, the tines once removed went back on the shaft easily without being cleaned up so i hope the wheels do the same, any other idea's would be greatly appreciated. Pud.
