Hi everyone,
First off - what a great forum! I thought my mig-welding was pretty good until I found this site. The tip about changing from a plastic to metal wire guide has transformed my old Clarke into a MUCH friendlier machine. My gas gear site idle after complaints from SWMBO.
Anyway, enough waffle.
I'd really appreciate some guidance re TIG machines and plasma cutters....
I'm looking to get a TIG welder. I need to weld a range of materials including MS/stainless/alu/bronze/silver/maybe copper (I'm an amateur sculptor) - from thin to thick 0.5mm - 6.0mm and want a reliable, good quality, ?non-inverter machine. I'd use a single-phase supply with a dedicated spur from the distribution box. Budget upto £1400. Any recommendations please??
Also - plasma cutter. To cut up to 6mm stainless. Are there any good machines that could do this that have an in-built compressor?? Space is at a premium in my garage so I'm looking to avoid having to buy a compressor if poss (how about running it from cylinders?). Again, single-phase 240 supply and budget less than £650.
Thanks to all in advance.
