On a more subversive note. If you really want to appeal to the Russian people you could join (https://vk.com), which is Russias equivalent of Facebook. Post images and news articles of the atrocities that are happening in the Ukraine. I was on there yesterday and it is rather worrying that there is quite large support for Putin and the war.

I also had an email conversation yesterday with a supplier over in Vladivostok who is very concerned for Russian business and the people. They are a marine chandlers and all international trade has now ceased for them. This was a very large part of their business.

Check out @AnonOpsSE and @AnonPress on Twitter. There is a lot of stuff on there that isn't being reported by the media. It is good to see that Anonymous have joined the fight against Russia and are keeping their cyber security people busy.

I imagine that I am on a few blacklists but at my age I'm beyond caring.

In the face of this, Oxfam came out and said people should just give money to them and they'd do better with the money locally. Load of cobblers, the prices of goods will be rocketing in some areas, so better to truck them in from places unaffected by war.

I'd heard similar from other organisations - I think its a speed of response thing - give 'em money, they can buy stuff locally today, if not tomorrow, yes higher price (although I'm not so certain people are yet profiteering) and get it to someone needing it now, rather than spend several days driving down England and then across Europe.

Sadly my Facebook has been inundated with scammers and sadly you can see people are donating to the go-fraud me accounts .

And the sad part is by definition a charity only has to use 15% of the money donated to actually achieve anything at point of need .

I have a family member going over Travis weekend , loaded with goods , Medical aid and money to buy more if possible on route.

Sadly there will always be people out there who will use others suffering to benefit privately . Hence why I dropped donating to many charities .

"We" have 3 lorries going to Ukraine & Romania with food and clothing etc, not us personally but a neighbours company's lorries, stuff will be piling up in our porch tomorrow from all the locals. I can't think of anything else to do though.
You don't understand how raging angry I am that one piece of **** "man" can cause all this grief for personal gain. I'd shiv him in a second if I got a chance.

There is a lorry going over next Friday vis ESPACE freight forwarders in Burntwood. They are still appalling to fill the lorry

If you're willing to provide accommodation to refugees, you register with your local town hall.

When refugees turn up, you present the refugees at the town hall, they give money and paperwork, put you and refugees in contact with suitable services for support, child education, and all that.

People offering gites and houses get preferential treatment.

Good on you France.

My neighbour is over in Poland helping out. This is where he was today.

"Przemyśl Główny train station is a main hub. It's really busy. Ukrainian refugees are bused-in from local border crossing points and if they have nowhere pre-arranged to go, destinations are suggested and if agreed, onward plans are made ."

He's shared a few photos of refugees he has taken, with their permission, along with their stories. Very harrowing, sound like my mate has gone through a few hankies.

One of the Polish guys from where I work has a holiday let in Poland. He has given it over to ukrainian family.

Evidently, if you let it via AirBNB, they continue their insurance cover and waive any fees if your donating it to refugees.

In a civilised world, you'd be able to pop over the channel, pick up some displaced families/refugees and give them a home as an emergency measure. Then let them contact the relevant agencies to figure out the long term solution. That is simply not possible sadly. The bureaucracy involved before you can exercise this simple act of kindness in the UK is insurmountable.
