Help setting up parweld xti 202p

Hi all very new to tig welding

I have a parweld xti 202p

I want to weld aluminium and stainless steel

I have pure argon gas

I just don't know where to start

Help please

Hi want to start by welding thin aluminium and then can progress onto thick stuff

Also stainless steel exhaust manifolds ect

I would start with 3mm steel to learn !!!

Have you looked at the TIG tutorials http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/tig-tutorial.htm or via. the TIG button top left of all the forum pages? That is how I started with my XTi 201 which is a little bit less complicated or as well specified than the 202.

Your instruction manual is reasonable too, have a good read so you know what all the widgets do. Then the tutorial is as good a place as any to start.

I agee with a bit of 2 to 3 mm mild steel till you get the feel...clean shiney metal makes life much easier too.

Stick it in DC at 100amps and turn everything else off or down to zero . Get a lump of 4,5,6 mm plate and linish it till it's shiny. 2mm a15 filler rod and play away. Have a bench grinder and box of tungstens at the ready as your gonna go through some preps while learning. That's the best way to start. Simple runs on a plate.
