Help required Spray painting

I am having problems wiht sparying some metal. Its basically a metal box. I am getting a gritty finish like sandpaper even when I polish the surface. I have added a filter as I thought it may be to do with water in the air and purchased a better gun.

This sandpaper like finish is casuing a problem as it make the paint finish apear patchy?

Any ideas would be much appreciated....

Sounds as though the paint particles are drying in the air before striking the work, so are unable to flow and smoooth out.

What paint are you using, what pressure are you painting at etc etc, More info needed really.

Probably drying before it gets to the surface holding the gun too far from the surface. As above too little information like what kind of gun and paint etc.

may sound silly,but are you spraying inside or out side of this box?
