Hi Everyone,
This is my first time here so I apologise if my post is in the wrong place or inappropriate. I have a 2002 Ford Transit which has failed its MOT, mainly for corrosion on the chassis and subframe. In total there are nine areas which need repairing, all are holes at least finger size, some are several holes close together.
Unfortunately we are on a very tight budget. Since moving up here just over a year ago I no longer have a garage or driveway. All my vehicle repairs are done in the street outside my house. Many years ago I did some welding at college so I was tempted to have a go myself but not sure if it's practical to do lots of grinding etc in a quiet street, plus I don't have ramps etc.
Does anyone know of any decent independent guys up here that would like to tackle my van? I had a quote today of £700 plus vat. I know we could discuss the wisdom of spending that sort of money on an old transit, but if I scrap it I can only buy another old van which would probably have similar problems.
Any advice would be very welcome indeed.
Thanks
Richard
