help need please guys

Hi guys as some of you know I recently bought an ex RAC van from MVS, the van is brilliant so if any of you were thinking of getting one, go to MVS.

Right, here is where I could do with your help.

My van has the one piece tailgate and I am looking to make it a bit more secure. I dont want to be fitting those bulky circular van locks halfway up the door.

The RAC left the modified tow hitch on there so I want to adapt my security modification to that if possible ?

Any help is much appreciated

My only thought is a quite obvious big bit of plate and lock is very obvious and shows you have something to hide! A contractor at work has a bar on inside that is very strong and a plate on the sliding door that fit through reinforced plate on bulkhead with padlock in cab.

Projecting from the towbar is going to end up being bigger than a circular van lock at any rate.

I would agree with the rough outline MK suggested, extra door solenoids around the perhiphery of the tailgate.

I like your thinking the only problem with the RAC van is it has two steel bulkheads, one directly behind the driver and when you open the rear tailgate there is another one about 2.5 feet in (two seperate secure compartments if you will)

Surely you have a grinder/plasma/drill/saw to make a hole to fit a control rod through?

You could always take that bulkhead out! Simple is often best as if its a pain to do you don't bother after a while

I have sent locks4vans an email they are not that far away from me, might even be able to drop in on one of my hazchem runs to dartford

If thats the case MK I would be daft not to do the whole van I have a cat 1 alarm on there but I like the belt and braces approach

In my old Midi van I fitted normal household 5 lever deadbolt's in the side of the doors, just a little keyhole needed on the outside. I just mounted them into some flat black strip and bolted that in, with a spreader plate on the other side of the bolt holes.
