Help! Motor home gas issue

Bought cheap motorhome, hoping to use it straight away as it was from a dealer and I was assured everything worked!.
Electrics well don't start me, some one has removed solar panel and not made a good job of it, so none of the 12v stuff has a feeding it.
But the gas
Testing my appliances this morning, two of the three hob burners light no problem third one I can here the gas but the thing just won't light!

Grill is the same is it a blocked jet?

Its a total pain wanted to go away before I go in hospital next week, looks like I am spending my time fixing stuff!

Have you checked the sparker on the hob?

Normally hob jets are removeable. They are little brass things. Those are the only things it could be.

No sparky thing I use a match etc, I did think of the jet as I can't see what else it could be?
I will have a look

Strange thing is I can hear the gas?

Careful it doesn't have a leak underneath! It could build up gas under the work top then boom.
Just use the working rings, go on holiday have a good time then take it back and let them fix it while you're layed up.

Would have thought if you bought it from a dealer, they should have had a gas safe check done on it with a certificate. Or was it a car dealer getting rid of a trade in ?

Motor home dealer selling a trade in gave me the old sold as seen on receipt but I do know thats rubbish, give him his due he has asked me to return any day in the week and he will get his man to look at it.
The exhaust was blowing too but after a quick chat with the garage who passed it I rocked up with a down pipe ( £19) and the fitted it for free so thats one less issue.

Sold as seen isn't really a legal term. If the bumper was hanging off when you looked at it clearly you couldn't complain that it fell off on the way home. However with mechanical faults it would imply you must of seen the issues it's got which you clearly didn't.

I think it comes down to.price and the fact they are a dealer that doesn't allow the sold as seen, I think sold as seen does apply to private sales below certain price I think it used to be 450

Does it have flame failure devices (FFD's) on the burners?
For example,on the remaining burners which do work, do you have to hold the knob in for a few seconds before the flame will stay alight? If so, it has FFD's.
They are cheap to replace if so.
If not, blocked jet from burnt food etc would be my guess, not much else to go wrong.

.. grandmother/eggs alert, but BE CAREFUL, LPG is heavier than air and a leak can fill up the living space, always keep the door ajar when cooking, and turn the gas off at the cock when not cooking.

That's surprising . Would have thought they had a duty of care to make sure it was safe, trade in or not before it left the premises.
If someone had bought that and was totally clueless , they could go pretty wrong very quickly .

Where to start lol

First off get everything lighting manually ie with a lighter or similar, if you can here gas and its not lighting remove the burner cap, it may have a scre through the cap, this 9 times out of 10 will snap, the injector may be in the base of the burner or it may be down a tube and not accessible via the burner cap.

If you can remove burner cap and y0u can see the injector remove and clean, think they are 7mm, turn gas on briefly with injector removed and see if you get a load of crap, the injector feed tubes sometimes corrode on the inside and block the injector may as well give it a clean while its out.

If the injector is not below burner cap you will probably need to remove the hob to strip it down, they are not overly complicated but remember its gas and you should always leave such things to a competent person.

if the injector is clear and there is not enough gas getting through its likely to be the gas valve for that burner, they are a taper brass and seal with gas grease, it may need stripped cleaned and re greased.

Grill injectors are usually the worst to get to and are more often than not just blocked at the injector.

If a thermocouple is involved it will light and then go out when you release the control, check its secure at the the valve end some times they just get a poor connections and work them selves slack, make sure the other end is in the flame and not touching the burner, if all that is ok you may need to replace said thermocouple.

Lack of ignition, sometimes the spark leads just get weak, first thing to try is just un clip them from the appliance chassis, sometimes the little cable ties are so tight the spark shorts out where its fastened, if you can get to the ignition block swap them round and see if the lack of spark problem moves to another burner may be a faulty ignition block.

Pictures of hob would help narrow it down.

Another test for a thermocouple is to blow the flame out and after a few seconds it should click and the gas will stop flowing.
