Help me with my new co2 regulator

When you look at the back of the new reg the ports are in the right place just seems like the arrangement is wrong, think I will give the weldequip guy a call before I fit this

Wouldnt fit that anyway, the regulator is now out of date. See the marking 03.15 on the back?? March 2015.
If anything happens with that regulator, no insurance company is ever going to cover a miss hap, when talking about 200bar plus bttles of gas of any description without in date regulators being used.
Especially considering that if there was a complete discharge from the cylinder due to a fault, or something hitting the bottle and somebody is in the firing line, it most probably WILL take their head clean off their shoulders

I only got this delivered from weldequip last week £40 squids an all, Its co2 regulator running co2 gas I thought they Wernt high pressured

Also the regulator has engraved on the top replace 2019!!!

This is confusing the hell out of me now

Similar to mine. I have replaced the hoses though as they were mostly joins and jubilee clips.

i have a few sets of regs and some new hoses but theres nowt wrong with me old ones so if there not broke dont fix em

May have been, the replacement dates are usually engraved on the back of them

Understand what ur saying, only point is for the sake of 30-40 quid, and the severity of what could go wrong and the trouble you'd be in with the law if it did, is it really worth the risk, as 200 bar is a lot of pressure to let out in one go if something goes pear shaped.

use whatever you use, not saying anybody's in the wrong, only repeating what I've been taught before now. No matter how nice an employer is to you, they change instantly if things like huge fines, or criminal charges are in the equation.
In instances like that, just saying "it's the equipment I used because I was told to use that welding gear by my boss" is not a valid defence as ur liable for the upkeep of the gear and to report any faults/parts that may need replacing.
Ie, an out of date regulator.

personal use only if it was used in industry they would need replacing by there sell by date as they would be used daily and i would think the hoses would have to be changed quite often ive only ever gone through 2 bottles of acetylene and 6 bottles of oxygen in all them years so the gears done nowt

Fair enough if for diy use, or in the garage lol
wouldn't take the chance at work though personally, especially with the whole "ill sue you for that" culture that's becoming more prevalent as times go on

in a workshop where oxy is been used daily the hoses don't make 3 years ( even with repairs )

had to do a course on gas torches. apparently it's illegal to repair hoses now

It's always been illegal to repair hoses if your unqualified. It's all about being abler to prove competence.

I know the procedure, as I'm a qualified hand gas safety inspector, I also have all the gear for reverse flow testing hose check valves and blanking plugs to test the hoses to twice working pressure (we use nitrogen as its a safe pressure test gas) plus I have the 6 jaw mandrel crimper for fitting the factory style hose ends. So yes, I'm able to do the job properly and more importantly than all the above kit in the eyes of the law, I have the proper documentation to record the safety test done on the hose.
And that's why we don't repair hoses anymore, it's more hassle than it's worth. If a customer asks us to crimp on a new set of hose check valves and I tell him I can do it, but he'll have to pay for a full pressure and function test with cert on the hoses after he invariably goes for a new set of hoses.
They are so cheap now it's not worth repairing them and accepting the liability for it.

Someone forgot the obvious question here, why use a flow meter on the mig set at all if the output gauge is marked in lpm? I've never used one on my mig machines... More to snap off!

If you knew how the 'flow' gauge worked you might think differently, it's actually a pressure gauge with a scale calibrated to equate to an aproximate flow. But in practice they are often way out.
The only way to really be sure of flow is to measure it at the shroud or ceramic with a tip flow meter (pea-shooter)
