Help hing(e)ing a door

For my one cabinet I have got a door - nothing but a flat 2mm sheet really, cannot remember the exact size now, but not larger than an A3 sheet that hinges upwards.

I know you get those hinges that'll keep it in the upward position when it's fully extended but I can't seem to find any locally.

Is there any way that I can make some gizmo mechanism to keep the door open? Currently it's a drag because I have to hold it with the one hand so that it does'nt fall down.

Hope you understand what I'm talking about.

Just had a quick look on google for 'friction stays' and there are lots but they are mostly for full sized doors and windows and are quite expensive. There may be something there if you spent a bit of time though?

Alternatively, could you not just rig up a simple prop - car bonnet style?

Thx, guys. I've been racking my brains for a couple of weeks now. I searched for "door hinges lift", etc. combinations without producing the desired results. Really a case of I could'nt describe exactly what I was looking for.

Graham, why I have'nt thought of a bonnet style prop before, beats me.

The weight and size of the door makes that not practical or at least going by my wife's hatchback's boot struts.

Hinges at the bottom...hmmm. For some reason or other I decided against that. Reconsidering now ... it'll work.
