Evening all, can anyone point me in the right direction for parts for a cenotaph auto star 180, specifically the gas solenoid, or worst case, any recommendations on a small mig that won’t break the bank, it’s only for body panels and repair patches
thats what i thought, i shall start the searchAs said,
It's simple enough to replace with a generic/aftermarket part.
If the operating voltage is not printed on it somewhere then just put a multimeter on the wires and see what it reads when you pull the trigger.
I would say a old cebora that's had a bit of love would be better than any cheap new machine and you'd probably be looking at spending £500+ to get much improvement over it
thanks for the reply mate, very much appreciated, ill be getting it out thisavo and having a good look and will try what youve mentioned, will keep you postedOne quick check would be to unplug the power to the solenoid and see if it is still allowing flow. If so it is getting a false "power on" from the pcb.
You could blow into the gas in pipe to test or use some low <10psi compressed air to save getting a bottle connected up.
I would be surprised if the valve assembly did not come apart (just watch out for the small return spring in the steel plunger.
I should have some like the one in pic kicking about but they are 24v DC, Did chuck several out the other month...
