Help - advice needed!!

Been doing some chassis work on me hotrod, put in some new cross members and all seemed ok welding from above. got under this morning to weld them underneath and im finding it imposible to get any kind of weld.. the welder just makes loads of sparks and not the usual crackling sound but a hum! so i get out set up a piece of scrap to try and i get perfect beads WTF???

so what am i doing wrong?? does the welder need to be set up different for welding underneath a car??

getting a kink in the lance? sounds like the wires sticking.. also is it a really good earth? my biggest problem on overhead is not allowing too big a weld pool as it drops. Machine and settings?

Tried several settings but without any change, the wire does tend to burn back leaving a big blob of weld in the shroud!

Will give it another go when im feeling a bit calmer! thanks for your advice!

dubble check your work clamp, sounds like poor connections=no power to weld???

have a break, breath deep for a mo, then try again..........

I hate overhead MIG. Does sound like some kind of sticking/wirefeed issue. If you can cant the chassis at all it's well worth doing.

You need to up the wire speed some maybe come down on the power a bit , you have to get the weld on before it gets the time to drip that molten lava onto you

as said above, up the wire feed. if you using setting 6 try no.7.
make sure your torch cable is as straight as possible, good earth etc.
