Help advice needed

Hi there i and could do with some advice . After have just bought a cosmo 145 gas/gasless welder as this was one of the higher amp welders i could aforde spent a bit havein the wire feed altered in the shop as this was one of the things i no these are ment to be bad for as well as havin the liner changed for a metal one and the gun up graded and was quit happy i had mad a ressionable choice
Then about five mins after i got home with it a freind of mine who is a profeshional fabricatour poped in for a coffe and realy put it down and went on and on about how bad they are and i should just of bernt the money , now i am two worred to use it and am considering seeing if the shop will have it back alowe after all the things the changed i dont no if they will so would just like to find out what everyone else thinks (is my freind just being stuck up as he spends all day working with a welder that probly cost the company 1000's )

wouldn't have thought the shop would be too happy ,best to have a word with them ,what did they do to the wire feeder?and what do you mean upgraded the gun?.......i've never used a standard cosmo btw

Professionals usually have the luxury of using nice, expensive equipment. I'd certainly agree with him in comparison to nice, expensive equipment, but the Cosmo is not expensive equipment... if that's all you could afford then don't be put off by him; they can produce acceptable results if kept in good fettle.

hi there thank you very much for the info so far to be hounest i have no idea what they done to the wire feed and as for the gun the fitted a heavyer duty on as the one that was on it looked like a kids toy lol i cant see them being very happy ever the guy in the shop said it was more than caperball of patching my bettle up and the van as well so just hope so to be hounest i dont have much experence in the real world done a night course in verhical boady restoration and painting so i could try and repair my brovers old bettle so will have to see how things go .
O and just wondered as silly as it sounds what thickness mettal do i need for boady repair on a bettle thanks allot and sorry for the silly questions

To be honest darren i'm not sure on thickness used in construction of beetles ,normal is 1mm for bodywork ,maybe 1.6 for chassis..on modern cars....someone who knows more about beetles will come along i'm sure.Gav

have bought most things but need tomake the heater chanels and iner wings sound etc unfortunatly am on a tight buget and am already in the midle of a chopper project that to be fair my freind has done most (well almost all of the fab work on lol ) will look for the thread thanks for the tip off

Have you looked here.....hadrian panels......probably have a stockist close to you,they manufacture....in Westbury wilts....not sure if they sell direct as i buy from wessex autocolours westbury,check the univerasal parts as well ,preformed flange and channel.......Gav wales stockist
