Im using a borrowed speedglas 9000 auto darkening helmet borrowed from a mate.. my welds are far from pretty but they are solid and I seem to get enough penetration (just playing on scraps at the moment)..
The problem I've got is I can't see once I start - this becomes a problem because I end up going off course.. I've selected shade 9 on the mask but its still way too dark for me to see the edge of the two work pieces.
Has anyone got any suggestions ? My own mask (which fell apart) was a cheapy machine mart thing with a fixed shade 10 glass in - what I used to do with this is make sure I had some decent light on the subject, this was far from perfect but I could probably see more than I can now.
Anyone else come across this problem and solved it ?
