Hi,

I have just signed up but have spent a while looking around and this is a really great forum and site.

I am just about to do my first spot of welding as I am restoring an old VW.

After reading about I think I have found the right welder for me... I was just hoping that if anyone knew any reason why I shouldnt go for it!

its a Clarke 240 volt 150 amp Co2 Argon Gas Mig Welder MIG150te Single Phase with a non live torch...

Any feedback would be great!

Welcome to the forum and your welder choice seems good enough to me, plenty of people on here using the same machine.

Look for a local gas supplier instead of the disposable bottles, they work out very expensive.

Don't forget to post some pics of your project..always interested to see what others are up to and may help someone doing similar.

Its to be used on a 1972 Karmann Ghia, which has a serious lust for rust. I know I have to replace the rear slam panel, the spare wheel well, and the front left wing.... and thats before I have stripped the paint off...

I have never welded before so its going to be a long hard learning curve... Ill post pics as I go along...
