Hi, I am john from the Scottish Borders .
I do a bit of welding from time to time . Only on my own machines . I have 2 Lincoln compact 185`s they are good little welders. I only use one but like to keep one just in case . I have had bother in the past with the board that controls the feed . So I keep a back up machine . they only cost about £440 new with a 3 year warranty.
I also have an old murex 500 amp . I bought this in a sale a few year ago for £ 120 brought it home plugged it in and away it went . It has a 4x4 wire feed . I have fixed the wire feed up on a swinging arm in the workshop . I use a generator as I don’t have 3 phase electric . I normally tack everything up with the 185 and then put the genny on to do the heavy welding .
I am self tort and probably have a lot to learn . this forum looks very interesting and hopefully I will pick some tips up
