Hi,I'm new here,I have an old rc welder(Fimer 130)that I bought for a tenner a while back.I have a plan of building motorcycle frames for mid to large capacity Japanese engines(sort of Spondon/Harris,but to my own design)now I'm on the dole and starting in my shed,so have ****** all money to play with.I've read that you can convert an arc welder to tig, looking around mine it seems possible, tho I'm not sure how to wire or set up a foot controlled power pedal.Would a 130 tig be capable of welding sufficiently tubing of no more that 3 or 4mm wall thickness?I know you can do it with arc,but I'd prefer the much better control you can have with tig,and I can't afford gas.Mig is also expensive to me,and tig seems more versatile in terms of materials etc.I am a pretty good mig welder and not bad on gas(love it)but bloody hopeless on arc.Cheers(Either that or a dead cheap tig for sale would be good no more than a oner maybe 2,cheers!
By the way thats (probably)mild steel tube, and box.
