Hello,
I'm new to this welding malarcky and need a bit of help with some machines I've got. I have a newarc viper 2500s tig/mma (in-line) machine that runs off the open current of any DC machine and a hypertherm 1000s that I am hoping to run it off of.
I have no leads, torches, or connector cables. I've found a supplier for the plasma torch, so far so good! However I need to figure out how the hell the rest of the thing could or should go together. The newarc has some kind of bayonet terminal sockets marked + & - on the front, and the male equivalent on the back. What kind of connector is this and what should be connected to them?
There is, what looks like, a gas socket between these two terminal cables on the front is this an outlet for the torch? In which case the brass screw male fitting on the back would be gas in.. right?
Then there is a large socket with '10/250 (with a wavey line after)' marked on it on the front, this is below another socket that looks like it takes something with a few prongs on it. I take it that these are some kind of torch connectors? What type of torch connection are they for? I think the unit takes two or single line tig torches.
There is another socket on the back that I think is for a remote control unit. Would this take a foot control?
the machine is supposed to run off a DC open circuit of 24-90 volts. The open ciruit on the powermax is a max of 300 VDC. Is this too much or will it only take what it needs?
Is it Ok to connect the two together and what cables should I get?
I'm running the whole thing off single phase on a maximum 60 AMP fuse. The newarc can get up to 250 amps. I need to get about 240 AMPs out of it for welding bronze, in short little bursts of a few seconds at a time. Any chance of achieving this without blowing something up?
Lots of questions! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Martin.
