Off to NZ in 10 days time to see my Daughter for the first time in 18 months, she's doing her PhD at Waikato.

The weather? Hard to predict as usual, it's summer over here but many complaints because it's been more rain and cold than ever, mainly cloudy then hot most days though.
Hope you enjoy your time here, where Waikato is, is a nice area and the main city is Hamilton.

I had the privilege of visiting NZ (north island) in 2000, over here Yorkshire people refer to their county as "God's Own Country" it's a pity they've never been to NZ because they would see just how wrong they are.......
.It's nice place but not a patch on NZ
I would also love to visit the South Island one day.
Anyway the North Island is still a very large place, so how about a bit more of a general area (Coromandel or Dargaville maybe?).

Yeah, it is. We don't realise it but we are very lucky here and take a lot of things for granted but I don't know any different, only been to Australia, twice.

Couple of people I know who have been over really rated it as like England ,but probably 30 years ago when it was somewhat nicer,thats refering to peoples attitudes and how they treat each other, also climate was similar but better, sounds like you have a nice place there, enjoy!
