Hello Im David from NW Lancashire. Near Lancaster.
I have an interest in welding aluminium and have a small 20 foot aluminium sailing boat which had some tin worm which I have removed. I turned it upside down in my garden for a while and Ive been cutting out plates and rewelding in new ones using both an r-tech tig 210a and mig 160 (with spool gun) in places. My guess is I think it must have had a battery leak in the past due to the pits inside the cabin.
My boat is constructed by butt welding 2.5mm 5083 plates together onto a 1 3/4" tubular spaceframe.
I dont think I have done too bad a job to be honest but keen to find an expert ally welder person locally that can finish the job off properly to make it watertight as I am now so limited in time these days and I want to get the job done so I can use it plus always wanting to learn tricks that I dont already know on thin ally plate.
I have tried to find someone locally but it seems its hard nearby to find someone who does aluminium. Otherwise I wont be able to complete till I retire which time is just a bit too far off.
.
Has anyone got any recommendations around my area?
Thank you in advance for your help.
