Lurked here a couple of times, but never joined until now. I know vwjaz and her OH (Hi Jaz & Mush!).

I have a similar affliction for vws, and started an evening course in welding last night (great fun!)

The T25 (1984) below is my daily driver.
The pick-up (1971) is my OH's toy
and the Beetle (1970) is my resto project (ha ha!)

Hence, the welding course...first things first right?

Looking forward to asking for advice on what the heck to buy, and then what the heck to do with it

Do you have any plans for the 1302? My parent's had one when I was very little...been going through old photos recently, and found loads of my brother and I as kids in it, on it, under it etc *LOL* Seemed inevitiable I'd get a Beetle eventually, even though mine isn't a 1302...went the vw camper route first though

Have you been watching Beetle Crisis on Discovery channel....I think those lads are doing a 1302?

The 1302 hasn't turned rubber on a road for years. My father extensively restored all the bodywork many many moons ago (15 years!), then it sat in the garage awaiting fitment of a steering box.

My plan is to finish the MGB I am restoring then return the bug to the road. I used to drag race beetles a few years back. I wouldn't mind breathing some fire into it's belly and doing some drag racing again.

I havent seen the show on the discovery channel. Truth be told, my wife and I realised about 2 years ago that the cable decoder hadn't even been switched on for 3 weeks, so we cancelled our subscription. I haven't had TV since. There's too many cars to restore and books to read before I die to find time to watch TV :-)

That said however, my wife and I love old crappy B&W movies, so with Bittorrent and THIS PLACE we download a couple of old public domain (out of copyright) movies a week.

What .........Silas..You mean you aint watching mainstream News.?How can you live without constant tragedy my friend Well when you tune it back in mate you are in for a shock. The BBC NEWS 24 have reporters in every city of the world reporting Global Warming in front of our very eyes.You can actually see them sweating as icebergs fall in the background The world is a much more terrible place now since you last watched.........cos we have more cameras and microphones everywhere. Some birds even have the flu........and we`re not supposed to catch diseases us humans....shocking!!!
