Hi,

I've just started college course in welding at Barnsley college. I mainly want to learn to weld to help me do stuff with cars. I own a highly modified Mazda 3 MPS and I am very active with the owners club. Being able to fabricate decat pipes, intercooler pipework and oil catch cans would make me even more popular.

With that in mind, I am looking to buy my first AC TIG welder so that I can start practicing right away. I will concentrate on MIG whilst at college, in the hope that any qualifications in MIG would give me more of a chance getting a job in welding.

AC/DC TIG you are looking at a grand plus what is your budget
plus you can still do all you want with MIG a lot cheaper

I'm looking at R-Tech/Thermal Arc/Parweld machines.

R-Tech seems to have the best warranty also do some shop soiled ones at a discount
you have to ring up about them
