Hello everyone - I couldn't believe my luck when I got a Google result that showed there was a forum in the UK to help novice MIG welders...
I've got an old Porsche, that I have to run based more on love and dirt than on cash, and while it's in generally pretty good shape, it's not going to get through the MOT that's due very soon without some welding to the sills - there are holes, that are completely typical to the age and model of car, but they're not as bad as some I've seen pictured - this picture, for example, shows a similar car in much worse repair:
- That bit in the middle of the picture is supposed to be the back-end of a box-section sill, running from front to rear of the car cabin! - mine 'just' has holes.
So all in all, it's probably about time I learned to weld.
I can get a Clarke MIG160EN Turbo 'No-Gas' MIG Welder locally, used once, for 'around' £150 - does anyone care to confirm that it would be up to the job at hand? (both for me as a beginner, and for the work above).
Thanks,
Carl
