hello everybody......!
first of all I would like to start by saying how great this website is, I have been reading most of the posts for months, read all the tutorials and have profited greatly from the wealth of information on this site!
Many thanks to all who contribute a lot of time and effort towards this site !
As I have three Fiat 131 Mirafioris, one for driving, one for restoring, and one for parts, I decided I'll take up mig welding myself and thanks to the tutorials I now manage to weld quite satisfactory (in my eyes at least....), but only as long as the metal isn't too thin...
Without the tutorials I probably would have given up a long time ago, but strictly following everything (what germans like to do
) got me well on the way. I must say welding is great fun!!!
Best advice was to get an auto-darkening helmet which makes a hell of a difference!
Unfortunately I bought my welder (Einhell SGA 150, €240.-) BEFORE I found this website, and it only has a range of 55A-130A, which I found out is a bit too strong for thin metal (as on fiats....). I know that in the long run i'll have to get a different welder, but as the restoration is expanding daily, my budget is running low.....Is there any way of reducing the minimum power of the unit by any trick (like resistors or a very long mains cable....)?
Hope to get even better through your advices,
greetings,
Max.
