Referring to your post about helmets; I often advise caution with safety protection from unknown sources. For every genuine supplier with decent backup there are a dozen gypo's who are happy to take your cash then fail to act if there is ever a problem. Don't wish to preach but you only get one pair of eyes and IMO its worth investing in a CE marked product from somewhere local. If you have gas from Elite welding in Oxford they can also advise on a decent quality helmet which won't break the bank.

The helmet I linked to is made by Parweld and is CE marked plus conforms to BS EN379, BS EN 175 & ANSI Z87.1. It also has an 18 month warranty.

It's type XR914H see details here.

The supplier, Central Welding provide their address + freephone number for help/enquiries. Always a good sign.

The one in the link in your third post in this thread is an unbranded helmet from an eBay seller based in Scotland.

I'd also avoid any unbranded autodarkening helmet no matter who is selling it - far too many frightening ones about and you can never guarantee the manufacturer is the same from one to the next so can't even go on recommendations from anyone who gets lucky. Also I'd avoid eBay as support or returns will be problematic from most sellers on there.

The Parweld you bought from DIY Welding should be good - a lot of members have them.

My post wasn't clear either - I guessed Gasman and Malcolm refered to the one Varanus linked to, and I agree with the comments. Busy in work and trying to do 10 things at the same time resulted in a garbled post

Well me trailer got welded up with it the other day deff lot spatter but the weld held ok and i guess if im worried about the spatter then i just need to go to gas?

I got a free helmet from Rapidwelding with my welder and it is only their cheap one but it performs really well, much better than I expected as I used a cheap ebay one at a friend's house and it was like working in a fog (yes we had removed the plastic protection film)
