Hi all,
Just joined this forum after 'lurking' for the last few days.
Thanks to one and all for the load of very useful stuff on the site and in these forums.
Having not welded anything before, I've jumped in the deep end and not had the sense or willpower to stop me buying a cheap welder off eBay... a HIGHWELD AC/DC-WIG/MMA 160 AMP/CUT40 combination welder.
I can almost see the skyward glances of people reading this, thinking: "gawd, another noob idiot!"
Anyhow, I reckon for 350quid that should be a nifty piece of kit (if it doesn't go POP after 5 minutes) - which is where *some* sense prevails: I've been an electronics & software engineer for donkey's years so slapping new IGBT's in or fixing the drive electronics is in my line of work.
If anyone's interested, I did find out that the "Highweld" is a badged import from WENZHOU MAO'S ELECTRIC CO, CHINA, their website is:
http://www.maoselectric.com/en/index.asp
I'll let you know how I get on...
... or not
Yours,
Tony Wilk
