Height for new bandsaw base

The base on Clarke CBS45MD band saws is rubbish as too flimsy. Mine fell apart ages ago so got binned and only now am I getting around to making another
I believe the original base height is a little too low (It's a long time since I used mine so can't remember) and wonder what people regard as a perfect alternative height - say to the flat vice area ?

FWIW I intend a simple design using scaffolding poles and KeeKlamps as I have both "in stock". This will be a quick no weld build

I have been thinking about a replacement stand for my bandsaw, it will probably be made such that the vice holds stock level with the top of my tressels for obvious reasons.

Isn't one of the points about these saws that you can leave them to get on with it?

That in mind, I would think the table height is irrelevant barring any in/outfeed supports you wish to use.

That is what I was getting at, the need to support 2 or 3 M of stock at vice height.

I have been experimenting with the height on mine, currently the vice face is 30" off the ground which seems more comfortable than the original height. The stand is still a work in progress with better wheels, space underneath for two scrap bins, offcut storage and a coolant tank.

30" seems like a good starting point. Beauty of KeeKlamps is they can be undone, tube shortened and then rebuilt lower if 30" proves too high for me.

Hi, also in the process of doing this with mine, reasonable saw - abysmal stand.

One thing I find with mine is its handy to be able to store it under a bench, too high would stop that.

If you use it vertical with a small fence then a bit higher would be better.

I changed those legs on mine too. Made it a comfortable height for me at around 1mtr from the floor to the flat where the steel sits.

Seems like a good plan, will it be on wheels? I have two fixed wheels at the rear and castors on the front with levelling feet. The rear wheels are set far enough back to act as a bump stop so the saw can be backed against a wall and operated without hitting the motor or belt cover.
