Heavy duty pin wrench?

I want to get my hubs apart so that I can blast and paint them, but there's a ring that holds the bearing and it needs a special tool. I tried using a large pin wrench but it just bends. Any ideas on some generic or universal tool that could get this job done? I don't mind investing in tools so long as they will serve future purposes but I don't want to spend £50 on a Suzuki tool that will never get used again.

I could fabricate a tool for this but maybe there's a quicker solution.

Generic tools might be a punch and a hammer, although it might (probably will) chew up the lockring. Would be OK if you could get enough purchase with a brass drift. It would be a good method if you were replacing the lockring (or whatever it is) and then you could put them back with a pin wrench, depending on the torque needed?

Put nuts on a couple of longish bolts and run them down two of the threaded holes, tighten the nuts down to lock them in and use a piece of bar as a lever between them.

If there are threaded holes I would screw in a couple of bolts then use a lever (pry bar etc.) to turn it. If the holes are plain, find a couple of bolts with a close fitting shank, cut off threaded portion and use as above.
