Heating pvc hose

I've got to change several 6" pvc suction hoses on a site that doesn't allow any naked flames. Normally I use a propane space heater to heat the ends and the bauer fittings slide in easily by hand. I was thinking of a large electric space heater but it's going to be 3ph so quite expensive. Any other ideas.

Cordless heat gun? I know a few on here have got the Makita 18V one.

For fitting hoses I often dip in freshly boiled water, softens and lubricates without any chance if overheating, and a good excuse to make a cuppa at the same time.

I’ve the Milwaukee one and I’m not sure it would do that. Fine for heat shrink but that’s a bit big. Couple
Of them might do it. They’re in Lidl at the moment so cheap enough to get a load.

Wonder if you could somehow adapt an induction heater? Put a blank up the inside and wrap the coils round the outside?

Hire a hot water bath and put the end in? Not sure if that’s viable but an idea none the less. Would only get to 100 obviously

Boiling water as said but for best results try and have it on site and keep it plugged in and boiling.

boil a kettle of water on site as drinks should be able to make them use a thermal cup or flask

then a 12v cup heater needs a battery though

A pan of water on a portable induction hob might work, I think you can get them under £100.

I wonder if a wallpaper stripper or a steam cleaner would do the trick?

For 4 & 6" pvc pipe we used to use an old burco single phase tea urn filled with veg oil. Used to be very awkward but didn't damage the pipe (at least a 2 or 3 man job to hold the urn & pipe without tipping it over.).

I like that idea. Boiling water never seems quite hot enough for large pipe but oil can go higher temperature.

Can you take the hose and fittings outside to the car park and use your propane torch?
