Heating metal

Hi have been asked to bend back some hooks on headstock on a telescopic forklift!, what's best way to heat thick metal? We're best place to get rose buds from ?

WHAT. Is this part of a fork lift or some thing to go on it, either way I wouldn't touch it with a wooden stick

The ears that hold the round bar in the top of the carriage?

It's on front of a merlo carriage it's the hooks that go onto the round bar of the implement u pick up!! It has twisted sideways a little just needs twisting back! When I worked on farm years ago we got someone to heat it up and twist it back and no problems! So want todo same to this machine but not really do much heating of thick metal! Can't be that difficult can it?

Merlo telescopic handler? I know what you mean most farm equipment have a variation of the same theme when picking up buckets and spikes. Had a similar job to do - red hot and a big hammer, job done!

In industry it would have to be insurance assessed,after the repair etc etc ....do you farm types not worry if these heated ,hammered jobs fail you could be held responsible ?....different worlds

Pop over Devizes steel,in Seend, they can sort you out ,probably a long handled pepper pot type nozzle,regs, gas.....Mike is a nice fella who used to work with farm machinery and is the owner....

Thanks got a oxy propane set up just takes ages to heat up with a cutting nozzle just thought see what the tips were and what thing to buy is?

If you already have oxy-propane and a standard sapphire or similar torch then a pepperpot like this one is what you need, it screws straight into the torch head as opposed to a standard nozzle which is held in by a head nut. a bit of a knack required to get them running without backfiring, and will eat its way through oxygen,

If it keeps backfiring, normally needs more fuel gas.
