Heater for occasional painting

Im looking at getting a heater for my shed that i do the odd bit of painting in and was wondering what the best option is, im considering one of these,

I'm not a fan of Clarke stuff but they are probably ok for small bits, no good for complete cars unless you have a few of them

Should of said i only paint bike parts, fuel tanks, fairings etc.

Also meant to ask if its safe to use these heaters to dry panels when using 2k lacquer?

I thought you had to use a longwave IR bulb, so it warms the whole coating rather than the surface and has a higher transfer rate. The normal IR heaters as above are short wave and made for heating people. They sell different bulbs for each use..

Most paint shops use them with 2k so no problem, it dries fast with them but be carful when handling as it can feel hard but still fingerprint

That's right, my heater has those bulbs in it, see I told you I didn't like the Clarke stuff !!!

ok any suggestions as to where i can get a long wave heater from? do any tool stores sell them that i might be able to find locally? id prefer to actually go and see the product rather than buying it over the net.

I would get one from a decent paint factors, you will get the right thing then.

if its just the odd job now n then , i think id prob look at a patio infa red heater , warm up the panels before painting , turn it off while spraying then warm em again once the mist has cleared

yeah no doubt , just kinda assuming someone painting in thier shed at home doesnt want thousands of pounds worth of heating gear

Eh? We have a single bulb one at work, no timer just a on off switch. I think it was maybe 130-160 quid at worst. I have no idea where it came from now though so I can help in that respect, we only use once in while for little plastic bits that cant be powder coated.. It just the the correct bulb that is the important bit, as if you leave a patio heater one near it wont heat it up at all well.

May be stating the bloomin obvious but keep the heating tubes free of spray mist and grinding dust etc. They don't like being run with a "coat" on!

£150 ish with vat, no stand but you can make one. and well within the price range you were looking at from machinemart. Be careful though.....they soften fairings in no time and you will be left puzzled as to where that ripple came from...never noticed it before......
