Heat shrink

I need to protect some labels at work for a machine that’s getting posted to the other side of the world

On some of the cables Iv used 18mm clear heat shrink which has been great to get over the cable connectors

how can I protect a label that’s approx 6mm but the connector is about 55x15mm

I was thinking helicopter tape or something similar

TE do a 6:1 clear heatshrink.
Not sure if you can get it big enough for a connector that size and even if you can then it might end up so thick you can't see the label through it!

Is it for permanent protection or just to protect during shipping?

You can get a clear heatshrink tape that might be worth trying or a simpler option would be to leave it as it is and put a few spare lables in an envelope for the end user!

Iv just found 3m electrical tape 25mm x 66m

only £17 from RS, we have an account so will try some of that

If it's just for the initial setup then any sort of cable marker would do.
Or you could even just used coloured tape with a corresponding paint mark on the mating connector.

Or if you have already labelled the cables a bit of clear pipe/hose with a slit in it to pop over the top.

That was one way of doing it, the clear tube over the top with cable ties

they have all been labelled already to the tune of 50+ cables

If they are paper label's can't you simply get some of the stuff schools use to cover paper, clear sticky back plastic, peels off a backing paper

Beware of shrinking clear heatshrink over thermal printed labels like my Brother label printer - why? They go completely black !!!

Ask me how I know !!!!

Well it's obvious really but didn't occur to me when I started.
