Hello,

Ive been practicing mig welding about twice now will post some pictures when im at home again, but ive been having some issues every time i have welded as of now.

When I start to weld about 10 mins in I am getting small amounts of a dull eye ache I have always had my mask on no 11 (not the one that came with the welder mind you) then the day after I have the dull eye ache and a headache that lasts for 24hrs then it goes and im back to normal. Ive been told this could be fumes but im not sure. There are no sand like eyes, but in the morning they are slightly red but clear within 20 mins. Have never seen a flash in the time that I was welding

think you should try a different mask, just to see if its the mask at fault

If it is an automatic mask some of them have a grinding mode which prevents the screen going dark when you strike up.

Of course I don't know if it is an auto screen or not.

I have been told smoke fumes and yes i do wear glases wore them under the mask but took them off after a while

Do you drink a lot ? It could be a hangover (or dehydration)

Can also be caused from concentrating too hard !!!

aha ! I was good this weekend :P possibly dehydration from being bloody hot and humid this weekend though !!

When I was at work anyone wearing presciption glasses where annually sent to the works optician for safety glasses , I had a pair made up for my welding distance and a pair of varifocals for when I was not welding.
It made a big difference.

I have constant left side headache - 24/7/365. Result of a stroke !
What I'm trying to say is get eyes tested, teeth checked, fume mask etc but "at the end of the day" if it still persists go to doctor. Might be nothing or, as in my case, "something".
