Head light lacqure

Just about to refurb my head lights can any one recommend me a lacquer to use in my baby gun

get some 2k in a rattle can...2k is the only stuff that will last

just ordered some lechler lacquer and hardener, I have never had a brilliant finish from a rattle can and its the head lights it needs to be kinda respectable

I was always under the impression clear coat has no etch properties so it will just come off. that's what happens when you try to clear coat polished alloy wheels.

if they are just plastic headlamps give them a polish every now and again.

its the UV that does the lamps in my mate said to lacquer them with a uv resistant 2k

can get transparent plastic primer ...800 the lamps and mist some primer on first

Aren’t you just supposed to wax them after polishing them?

Ive seen instructions to rub them down & polish them, there are various kits available for it. I've never done it, but heard the results are good.

depends on how good a job u wanna do.

I have never lacqured them before to be honest but they are suppose to last much longer if you do

mine were proper frosted up,i couldn't see owt when driving at night. Then I bashed them with 800 through to about 1500 grit, then mopped with G3 G10 etc.. lasted a good 3 years of me never really washing the car before I did them again.

Couple of coats of Meguiars Headlight Protectant and they're holding up well.

My headlights had been lacquered badly by a previous owner. It was peeling, blooming & looked awful. I spent ages going through the sandpaper grades from 280 to 4000 grit, the old lacquer was a real pig to remove. I finished them off with a machine polisher with g3 & g10 compounds & they came up like new.
I've protected them with a coat of wax but I would never lacquer them, it's just a bodge, an easy way to cover up a scratched lens!

I wouldn't lacquer headlamps, its a recipe for disaster in just a short time. As above just re finish them and polish is the way to restore them. Elbow grease is your best bet here.

Yes, but I'm not sure how it'd fare with any heat from the lens
