Morning everyone...
I have been plodding along with my saxo race car project..all going good until yesterday....last week I removed the bulkhead for numerous reasons and set about the task of making a new one...last week I had a huge clear up of all old scrap that was kicking about the place.old rims.car parts ect...only realised yesterday I have thrown away a vital part like the steering rack!!!!! Really can't believe I did it !!! What a @ !!!!!! So am stuck now until I get another one....lesson being never have a clear out !!

Agree, throw out anything in the house but nothing in the workshop! Saying that i have done almost the same thing before. UJs for a prop, could have kicked my ass for doing that.

Not if you condition your brain to eliminate it from the stock list, that way it never existed

I kept saying to myself I must move the rack up to the shed....not thinking with all the other stuff I got going on...there was lots of swearing words ...and the Mrs topped it off by saying I can do the garden as I can't do anything in the shed !!!! I never throwing anything else away.

you need an extra shed for throw away stuff have a clean out move stuff to extra shed for 2 years then if not used re-sort it throw away excess
so accordingly you would have found your steering rack in the extra shed/store

In a good way it's kind of got me thinking of another shed..am planning on building a new one within the next yer...so f it...will build two...one for my project work....and the other one for parts removed and stuff that has a use and just had to have it....

My problem is that i generally have 3 of what i need....but i can never find it so i have to buy it anyway .

Today however i need some steel plate and i have everything except 2.5.mm....so project stops. I am also short of cash this week so an extra delay is inevitable. Lol

I know the feeling...I got out with a list of materialstuff and come back with everything except one I need...but cash is tight until I get paid for a job I did last week.

Having similar issues working out two bend angle folds for some brackets....it's done my brain in

Workshop, then a storage shed. Then you wander into the storage shed in a few years and think "why am I keeping all this junk". Then in 10 years you wander in and think "flippin hell theyre uber rare now, and have proper value". Then at 15 you can sell them, no longer being able to afford the vehicle they fit because theyve attained classic status.

My wife thinks I'm mad when I sweep the floor in my garage, I get into a neat pile, get my gloves out and a sieve, (garden type for sifting soil 3mm).
I sieve the small stuff just to make sure I'm not binning really odd or rare from the classic car I'm working on, I can sleep at night then.

I tend to follow that ideal, unfortunately it's getting to the point that I know I have something but I'm ******** if I can find it when I need it, I've wasted hours today looking for a battery isolator switch that I previously removed that I now want to refit back in the car I removed it from but in a different location (see I'm not completely mental, honest!)
