haveing a bit of a isue with tig welding

im not all that new to tig welding ...done a bit here and there in the pat ,but not my own equipment ,ie was already set up for me to use
now ive bought my own i carnt seem to set it up right
ill post a list of the bits ive got but t the mo im wanting some help on these welds as i know im doing something wrong

all above welds are just me trying to set up the welder

Bar the 1st looks like youve used AC, instead of DC first andlast too much heat/too slow

machine im useing is dc only
if i was wanting to weld a 1.5 stainless pipe what amps would i need to get a good weld
as this is the problem im haveing :/
any help would be great

set up ive got is a
TIG WELDER MMA WELDER 200 INVERTOR AMP 200M PULSE
bottle of pure argon
regulator
flowmeter
so should be more than enough to do what i want ..just not getting the weld bead right

There's an amperage chart in the http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/tig-tutorial.htm. It's only a starting point as travel speed and arc length make a BIG difference*. Purging also makes a difference in that the weld pool behaves very differently if talking full pen butt welds and/or thin material


* you won't find many examples of users mentioning amperage settings and where you do you'll find we all run slightly different settings i.e. the tutorial mentions 40A for a closed root butt weld on 1.5mm stainless but if you weld slowly you'll need less and a good hand that welds quickly will use more. Even the machine can make a difference... i.e. 40A on my kit isn't the same as 40A on a mates

Hi, I've been welding my exhaust up on about 35amps but they were more like lap joints rather than a but.
I have found that you need a very tight arc and a really sharp tungsten to get the nest results. that and wearing my glasses
