Wanting to earn my keep as a new Mod and of course work for the benefits I now get for being a Mod... week in the Bahamas, company Lexus and free beer:

Anyways: The For Sale section could do with a bit of a tidy up, a fair amount of old posts where the item has probably been sold, lost or given away and the one I hate to see, no reply to questions from potential buyers.

If you have an item for sale and it has been inactive for some time could you please update it or PM me and I can mark as sold or delete if you prefer.

I will not be updating any adverts without the posters agreement, except the one's where the seller is not replying to questions and has not clarified if the item is sold or not, if over a month old I intend to delete them.

Comments / Input welcome before I make a start next week sometime.

Would be ever so nice if threads got a final post or a comment from the original poster to say I`ve found a solution or that suggestion works. Its so frustrating to search, find a topic and find its still up in the air unresolved.
Just my Early morning rant.

Only 1 week? I'd complain.

You can use the "Report Post" to ask a mod to delete/close a thread. That way the first mod to see it will do the necessary.

Having a live ad does not prevent anyone posting in that section, are you getting an error message when you try?

a drop down box will appear....

click on your user name next to your avatar

click on postings tab

scroll right to the bottom

in the blue bar, Find all content by ??????? ! Find all threads by ??????


now i hope a mod will come along and say there is a quicker way to get to the links

Could you not put a routine in the script allowing the poster to tick a box where it says 'post for 1 month only' to which it will automatically delet itself after 1 month.

I don't understand the reasoning behind deleting old ads, especially ones that are marked a sold and locked. There are dozens of posts in other sections which mean nothing any more but don't get deleted (just as an example, merry Christmas/happy New Year threads) but they don't get deleted but old for sale ads can be a good indicator of an item's value for someone trying to set a price for their item. What exactly is the reasoning here?

They are not getting deleted, they are getting updated as in marked as sold if that is the case, a possible one or two may be deleted because the Op has ceased communication, this clogs the section and annoys possible buyers.

I want to buy & am looking through Xxx pages of adds are not what I want to scroll through things for sale quickly the sold items are clutter.
I for one do not have the willpower to go through 45+ pages
A good idea would be a sold box to tick they were then automatically moved to a separate thread for price comparison
