Have I destroyed anything by welding it? (Electric machinery)

Hello, first off, hello to everybody. This is my first post, however I have scrolled this forum many times for mainly non welding purposes.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if I could have broken anything here.

Until now I have never welded before. I have brought myself a Wolf Weld 130 Mig. I am currently using it gasless, and using t to make some brackets for the back of my van to hold down a wheel balancer and tyre machine.

Now, I have become abit paranoid about maybe damaging some of the electrical components inside the balancer. If it's any use, I'm using the welder positive ground (as using flux cored wire). I had the bracket I made (out of angle and box section) bolted to the balancer, and continued to weld it whilst attached to the balancer. The balancer is 240v 3 phase.

I have broken any of the internal boards through my beginners stupidity?

There can't of been much of a connection as the bolt holes on the balancer are powder coated other than a few scratches where bolts went through. I also put the ground on the box section itself.

Unfortunately, I should mention I currently can't just go out and test the wheel balancer as I'm nowhere near it at the minute!

Report? I'm betting its ok. the only problem might have been if it was plugged in then the body/frame would eventually be connected to the neutral.
the worst thing though did you disconnect the battery on the van ?

This is me being pedantic; "The balancer is 240v 3 phase"
Not sure that's likely, is it? More likely to be 415V 3 phase, or 240v single feeding an inverter?

Anyway, to your question; have you tried it? Is it bust? It's extremely unlikely that a MIG is going to do any damage to pretty much any electrical kit, let alone something like a wheel balancer.

The other thing here is if it is in a van why havnt you used 12v kit?
but are we talking to ourselves???

Hello, sorry for late reply. Haven't had chance until now to log on.

Anyway, all seems well, the balancer works fine.

To clear a few things up:

I meant 240v single phase

Also, I don't believe many wheel balances run off 12v? Anyway, it runs fine from the inverter.

Yep there is a company in wrexham http://paulsequipserv.co.uk/
that sell new and used 12 and 24v fitting machines and balancers all very high quality machines I bought a pair that we fitted in the service truck but we used to use it in the workshop off a battery. I would say it was a lot stronger than a comparable 240v machine.
