Some 4mm plate, bevel ground in the dark, 2.5 ish land, 2.5 ish gap, 80 amps dcep, 2.5mm nufive... didn't grind my stops. This is the back. Vertical down of course...

Vert down is way easier than up once the setup is right.i would gap smaller than the rod,about 2mm for a 3.2 or about 1.5 for a 2.5.
you have the amps about what id have it set to,bit hotter than upwards.but i always run nu5 on the negative.
when its right you just push on the rod and let it fall down the bevel.it rolls down effortlessly like theres a ball bearing on the rod tip.
its tough work and fast reactions are needed if any element is out
